SPA DAY!!!!

W.O.W. Yesterday was very awesome for a few reasons.

#1- I turned "Sweet" 16wks on May 16th (kind of a coinkeedink) and realized that I've almost been pregnant for 100 days. I am SHOCKED at how fast things are moving right along. We learned that lil Poppy Seed is now the size of an Avocado according to babycenter.com and that lil PSK is growing toenails, sucking her thumb, and growing like a weed! So fun!! I haven't been able to feel any movement yet, but should be able to anytime now. I just hope I know what it is when it happens!! I am at +9lbs and finally over the morning/all day/omg my insides are gonna come out sickness spell and have regained my energy back-whoo hoo!

Our lil Avocado

#2 My mom, when we first found out we were expecting, got us the most marvelous gift....a morning at the spa! Now that I have been feeling great I thought it was definitely time for us to use it! Brian and I started the morning off with breakfast at Panera, and then headed to the spa. We started the morning out with a massage, followed by pedicures, and then manicures. It was absolutely perfect. I didn't know how much I needed to be pampered!!! We're gonna have to keep those massages coming! After our pamper session, we headed to Best Buy and purchased a new video camera so we can start capturing some of the fun stuff we have coming up. It's very slick, tiny, and easy to use. We have a little something special planned for the announcement of the baby's gender, so we will post the video when the time comes! Once we finished up at Best Buy, we headed straight to CHIPOTLE!!!!! Baby looooves Chipotle. It was delish as usual and had accomplished all that we wanted to do that morning and so we headed for home.

#3 My cousin, Nikki, had prom yesterday and every year since she and her sister have been in High School, I've always helped them get ready. It's something I always look forward to--they are both like little sisters to me. She looked absolutely stunning! I only have one more year left to help her and then she'll be off to college, like her big sis, Natalie. That means I'll officially feel OLD as DIRT! :(

There it is...every reason why yesterday was a great day. I'm looking forward to more fun events coming our way!!! Most of all, I'm really looking forward to a nice relaxing summer.

PSK- keep growing in there lil peanut, feel free to let Mommy know you are really in there anytime now. It took me 2 times to figure it out, but I know now that you do not like when I eat at The Yard, so I promise I will stop for the next 5 months. We love you whole bunches and can't wait to find out if you like pink or blue!!!

Happy Sunday fellow readers. Enjoy your week!

Happy Mother's Day!

Me and my Beautiful Mother :)

Happy Mother's Day to all the fabulous Moms and Mom's-to-be out there!
Today was really special for many reasons. Of course, I got to spend most of the day with my Mom- who has taught me many things throughout my life, and all that I am and have become, I owe to her. I love you, Mom!
Every year, my cousins and I have a cookout for our Moms & Grandma. Usually we do ALL the cooking, preparing, etc. However, this year was slightly different. When my husband went out to fire up our grill, we noticed that we had some tenants that had just moved in. That's right, a family of mice were now the proud home-owners of a Weber 2 story, all steel house, er..grill. Not only did Mr. & Mrs. Mouse move into our grill...but they TOTALLY SHACKED UP in our grill! I was told that there were 3 brand new, still pink, baby mice that seemed to be just born, right there in the grill. Not my idea of a BBQ, people. Luckily, my mom's boyfriend saved the day. He and my uncle went to his house and cooked our chicken breasts on his mouse-free grill. And Mother's Day cookout was now back on. Phewwww! We had a very nice meal followed by some homemade peanut butter cup cookies and fresh fruit for dessert! Poppy Seed's Uncle Billy stopped by for some cookies and fruit before heading back to Columbus, which was also a nice treat! After dinner, we had an intense game of Catch Phrase that lasted for 3 hours. We don't mess around, people. What a very interesting, and fun day this was. It's so hard to imagine that I will get to celebrate next Mother's Day with our precious little angel....whatever HE or SHE may be! :)
Another reason today was so special, was because Brian and I got to remember his mother, Patty. She was an amazing mother to her boys and she was very, very special to me. I know she is smiling down on us from Heaven and I know she would have been the greatest Mother-in-law I could have ever dreamed of having. I cannot wait to tell our child/children how much of a beautiful person she was and hopefully continue on many of the wonderful Motherly gifts that she was able to share with her boys. We love you and miss you dearly, Patty.
As far as our lil PSK goes, we had a doctors appointment this past Friday and we got to hear the heartbeat again and the nurse said that everything seems to be going well and we got to schedule our NEXT appointment!!! We go in 4 weeks to *hopefully* find out the sex of our precious little baby. I'm going to have a lil talk with PSK to make sure she cooperates since our lovely insurance does not cover any ultrasounds :) It's way worth it though!! Will keep you posted fellow readers. Stay tuned...
This is my final month of teaching dance and our recital is just 3 weeks away! I can't believe how fast this year went! My kids have made me so proud to be their teacher and I'm excited to see them up on the big stage working it out! I may be a little biased, but we have some really talented kids! It's going to be a great show! After recital, I should be able to start updating this blog a bit faster ;)
Well Poppy Seed, as much as I don't want to rush things, I'm very much looking forward to being able to call you by your proper sex, and then soon by your name! Keep baking in there little one...your Daddy and I love you so much already!

Sinuses Schminuses

Green snot, bloody boogs, hocking loogies, headaches from H-E-double-hockey-sticks.....yes I had the pleasure of experiencing ALL of this the past 7 days. I get sinus infections just about every month, so this wasn't like a total surprise to me, BUT, in the past, I would simply get an antibiotic and be on my merry way. Now that I'm pregnant and have been scurrrrred to death by the doctors, books, and other preggos/already moms, I know now that you CANNOT take ANYTHING during pregnancy. Well, last Thursday there was no Superwoman in me that was going to survive this sinus infection. It was the mother of them all. And, no, I'm not being dramatic! I called my good ol' doc and he called me in some Amoxocillin. I took my first dose around lunchtime and tried to fall asleep, but my head was THROBBING, so that was unsuccessful. I kept taking my temperature and of course was starting to panic because it was rising everytime I took it and O M G YOU CAN'T HAVE A FEVER WHEN YOU'RE PREGNANT EITHER! So I did what every normal, level headed pregnant woman would do and FREAKED OUT! Not only was I sick and pregnant, but I was putting poisonous drugs in my body and now I'm going to have a fever and probably hard boil my egg! Waaaaaaaah! I also started feeling very dizzy and faintish and all I could picture was me laying on the floor passed out and no one would know it or find me. No, I'm STILL not dramatic! I called my doctors office after hours, and they referred me to the "on call" doctor. When I reached the doc, I broke down into a flood of tears (deal with it...I'm emotional these days) and explained to him that I was basically dying and wondered if he could save me. So he suggested I take a Tylenol and call him in a few hours if I still felt awful. So I went to the cabinet and grabbed the bottle and took another poisonous pill. Another panic attack- now I'm taking all kinds of things I feel like I shouldn't be and now feeling like a bad mother already. Boo.

After not being able to reach Brian or my mom, my lovely Aunt came to my rescue :) She helped calm me down and let me know that I was NOT poisoning my baby and that everything was going to be OK. My mom eventually called back and came up as well. I finally felt some peace. After an hour or so my temperature started going down and my head was slowly beginning to feel normal again. OK, drugs aren't so bad, Mmmmkay?!

Today has been one week since my sinuses punked me and I'm feeling much better. The mucus factory has slowed down its production somewhat. And "them books" say that when you're in preggo land you will produce way more fluids than normal...(ya think!)

Next up: Doctor appt on May 8th for a tummy check and to make sure everything is growing as it should be. So far I have gained 6lbs (freaked me out at first, now I'm ok with it), my hooblie bobs have gotten a lil bigger (amen) and I still do not have any sign of swelling, veins, or water retention (aka Kankles.) We will also get to hear the heartbeat again. Brian is going to record it on the old Blackberry so we can listen to it as often as we want :)

Happy almost-May everyone. The weather is getting nicer-whoo hoo! That means I get to get my preggo butt outside for some nice long relaxing walks. Looking forward to it!

Until next time, here's my 12wk photo- the first of many "belly pics" to come. Yes, the only way I could get Brian to take my picture during the golf tourney was to stand in front of the screen :) Enjoy!

SUBWAY....Eat Fresh!

Ok, this is getting reeeeediculous! I now have a new craving that is starting to scare me just a little bit! Saturday night Brian and I were headed to a local deli that has good food that I will actually eat since I'm so picky, only to find out they were CLOSED. Now what?!? Well, Subway was across the street and although I wasn't really a fan of Subway at this point in time, it was basically our only option other than fast food or pizza (which we've been eating way too much of, pizza that is!) SO...I agreed to eat there figuring I would just get a boring turkey sub, warmed of course so that I don't get meat heebeejeebees from eating cold meat. I went about my business, ordered my veggies, grabbed some apples & water and sat down to try to stomach this unfamiliar meal. I took one bite and I was in love. It was the most brilliant, amazing concoction that I had come up with and I couldn't get enough of it. Those who know me KNOW that I do not really love food this much, so this CLEARLY is due to the lil one growing inside me.

It is now Wednesday, and I have had Subway, the same exact sandwich of course, 5 times and will be having another one delivered to me while I'm teaching dance tonight bringing the total to now 6 times in 3 days. EwwwwwBoyyyyy... After having it for dinner last night, 2 hours later I was hungry for it again, but Brian said he would be absolutely mortified if I made him go back. He doesn't know what he's in for! :) I may have to hit up multiple Subways in the area before I start looking really pregnant or else the workers may think I'm nuts!

Well there it is...my post about Subway. Mmm just saying it makes me hungry for it. Major brownie points to anyone who brings me Subway. I will leave my order below. Peace.

6in Turkey on Wheat TOASTED, No cheese, Cucumbers, Pickles, Salt & Pepper, Mustard, & Lite Mayo. Side of Doritos or Apples (depends on my mood) & Bottle of Water.

Love you PSK... thank you for making me crave Subway and not Bigmac's or loaded cheese fries. My thighs will thank you for it later :)

Happy Easter!!

Happy Easter to All! What a long day it has been, but I am somehow mustering up some energy for a blog since I have been told I'm not blogging fast enough ;)

I have been starting to have more good days than bad lately, which is a HUGE plus! I think PSK is starting to feel bad for me and giving me a break for awhile, atleast I hope. We had another appointment on Good Friday, which was amazing. We got to hear PSK's heartbeat and it sounded like she was running a marathon- just like mommy. No I do not know if it is a she yet, but we'll just pretend for now until I know the proper diagnosis. It was truly an amazing sound- best I've ever heard! I got poked and probed of course, but that all went as well as it could go I guess. They also informed me that my due date has now changed to October 31st. Yep, I'm having a Pumpkin. We have another appointment on May 8th for another listen of the heartbeat and a tummy check (whatever THAT means!) THEN...the next appointment after that will be the dun dun dunnnnnnn..... BIG ONE!! I cannot wait for that one. Then let the planning (& shopping) begin! Fun stuff ahead, people, fun stuff ahead.

I'm still growing, gained about 4 pounds so far and thank goodness for my Bella Band. It's the only way I'm surviving these days. Apparently everyone who said "Oh, you'll just be so tiny and probably won't even show until your 7 months...etc" has totally jinxed me and I have now kissed being able to button my skinny jeans goodbye for a while. Oh well.

As far as the food department, I'm still able to eat mostly everything I did before. I have been trying to eat more meat and am getting better at it, I just have to mentally prepare myself for it first. I do have a new craving. Pickle Beets- very random and odd, I know. But they are soooo yummy right now. Polished a whole jar last week and the Easter bunny put 2 more jars in my basket today! Strawberry Cheesecake is still going strong as well. We'll see what else makes its way to my tastebuds.

Sleep. Non-existant right now. I'm still peeing 4,243 times through the night, making it ever-so-impossible to get a second of shut-eye. I know that this will only get worse as the weeks & months pass by. Glorious.

Energy- slowly getting better. I'm just getting off of Spring Break, and I do feel slightly refreshed. I have about 2 more months of dance left and then will be able to relax for the Summer. Zumba is still going well- I do feel like I'm sending PSK through the "spin cycle" sometimes, but I'm taking it easy most of the time. She may be doing the "Beto Shuffle" when she comes out :)

Well, I'm hungry now and all hopped up on sugar from this afternoon. Time to go put something nourishing in the belly for PSK. I'm sure she'll thank me for it later by bouncing on my bladder.

Until next time,

Jenn :)

Helllloooooo Elastic!

Well I had a very fun, mostly morning sickness-free weekend! We had our annual reunion with friends Holly & Matt in Columbus and had a blast. We spent Saturday at Easton and while everyone else shopped, I ended up at Cheesecake Factory. whoops! My new jam right now is the Fresh Strawberry Cheesecake and I was ecstatic to find out that you can get any cheesecake shipped to you...wherever! That may end up being a problem, but a good one of course ;) What a fabulous weekend with such fabulous people :)

We had our first OB appointment today and it went very well. First, we met with the billing lady, who was so very nice, to inform us that having a child will cost us 3 arms and 4 legs since we are both SELF EMPLOYED. Fun. Then, we sat in a room and played 21 questions with the nurse and I feel slightly overwhelmed with all these new testing options that they give you these days. What to do, what to do. We have our next appointment April 10 for testing and bloodwork (eeeeek!) and we will also get to hear the heartbeat!! Fun stuff.

Following our appointment, I broke down and bought a few maternity items. I just can't stand my youth jeans any longer. I got a pair of jeans, yoga pants, a dress, new sports bras, and a belly band. I think I may live in my yoga pants.

Well, I'm off to take a nap before dance! Enjoy :)

Big Mac & Fries 0 - Dry Cheerios & Lemons 1

Well, I just thought I may be one of those lucky ones that will beat the inevitable case of morning sickness. I was ecstatic since my babycenter.com was telling me since the beginning that "you may be feeling nauseated, sick, etc" and since I, in fact, was NOT, I assumed it was skipping me :) ............ WRONG! Last Friday, was the first day of it, and whoa it hit me like a ton of bricks. Literally. I did not get off the couch from 2pm-midnight and just could not fight this feeling of being hungover or being on a rocking boat. "GET ME OFF THIS BOAT!" I tried to listen to my stomach to see what it thought would make me feel better. CLEARLY a Bigmac, Fries, & Salt & Vinegar chips was NOT the answer. I mean, it always worked in college?!? The rest of the weekend through yesterday was slightly better than Friday, and today I actually feel some relief. I have been getting wonderful advice from lots of pregnant ladies and moms and have tried some of their tricks. It was suggested to eat something BEFORE I even attempt to get out of bed. Well when you have to pee at 5 AM does that mean I need to have room service at 4:45????? Geesh. Brian came up with a plan to keep a cup of dry cheerios on my nightstand and then when I awake, simply start munchin'! So far it is working wonderfully, even though my husband thinks he's being woken up by a squirrel in his bed every morning! Oh, and the lemons. There's something about lemons that's supposed to calm things down in there. Good call. I have been eating lemons by the WHOLE. That's right. Whole lemons. Yum. I know this is all going to be worth it in the end, and that this whole sickness bizz means that everything is working the way it's supposed to, but I really do miss my usual self that is bubbly and energetic every morning and throughout the day.

Oh well, anything for you little Poppy Seed, anything for you.
